Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Rewired ("Rewired," "we," or "us") handles information when you use the Rewired iOS app (the "App") or therewired.app (the "Website"). Rewired is designed so that app-blocking data and camera processing stay on your device wherever possible. The information that does leave your device — an optional cloud backup of your progress for subscribers, photos you submit for habit verification, and limited analytics and paywall information — is described below.

1. Operator and Contact Information

Business Name: Rewired

Operator: Darya Kostyuchek

Address: 11 Salem Ln, Horsham, PA 19044, USA

Email: info@therewired.app

Phone: +1 609-614-0298

2. Information Stored Locally

Rewired does not require you to create an account or sign in. The App stores the information needed to operate and personalize your experience in the App's private container and shared App Group on your device. This may include:

  • Your first name, age bracket, goals, screen-time estimate, selected pain points, prior approaches, and challenge preferences.
  • Your onboarding progress so an interrupted setup can resume where you stopped.
  • Your Block Groups, challenge history and results, earned time balance, habit completions, timers, unlocks, lockouts, streaks, and app preferences.
  • Opaque Screen Time selection tokens and local counts of blocked-app opens.

This local information is used to provide App functionality. Beyond the cloud backup, habit verification, analytics, and paywall processing described in Sections 3, 5, 6, and 8, it is not sent off your device.

3. Cloud Backup for Subscribers

So that your progress survives reinstalling the App or switching devices, Rewired backs up your App data for active subscribers to servers operated for Rewired by Supabase.

  • The backup contains the App state described in Section 2: your first name and onboarding answers, Block Group settings, challenge history, earned time balance, habit completions, streaks, and preferences. It does not contain your Screen Time selection tokens, photos, or camera data.
  • The backup is tied to an anonymous, randomly generated account created automatically for subscribers — no email address, password, or sign-in is involved. Its credential is stored in your device's Keychain.
  • Backups are protected by per-user access rules: only your own app installation can read or write your backup.
  • Users who have not subscribed do not get a backup account, and nothing in this section applies to them.

Deleting the App does not delete the cloud backup — that is what lets a reinstall restore your progress. To have your backup deleted, contact info@therewired.app.

4. Apple Screen Time Data

Rewired uses Apple's FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity frameworks to shield apps, categories, and websites that you select.

Opaque selections

Apple represents your selections with opaque tokens. Rewired stores those tokens locally so iOS can enforce your choices. Rewired does not transmit those tokens to its own servers, PostHog, Superwall, or any other third party — they are excluded from the cloud backup.

No usage-history access

Rewired does not receive your browsing content, messages, personal content from other apps, or a history of how long you use each selected app.

Shield display names

When iOS displays a Rewired shield, Apple may provide the extension with a local display name for that app or website so the shield can identify what is blocked. Rewired does not retain or transmit that display name.

5. Camera, Photos, and Habit Verification

Rewired uses the camera in two ways, with different privacy properties.

Push-ups: on-device only

If you choose the Push-Ups challenge, Rewired uses the front camera with Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect body pose and count repetitions. Camera frames and pose points are processed in memory on your device, are never uploaded anywhere, and are discarded as the live challenge runs. Rewired does not record video, collect face geometry, or use TrueDepth depth maps.

Habit photos: verified with AI

Some habits (like touching grass or making your bed) ask you to take a photo as proof. When you submit one, a compressed copy of that photo is sent to Rewired's verification service (hosted on Supabase) and passed to OpenAI, whose vision model checks whether the photo shows the habit and returns a verdict. A random per-install identifier is included to prevent abuse of the service.

Rewired does not store your habit photos on its servers — they are processed to produce the verdict and are not retained by Rewired. OpenAI processes them as a service provider under its API data policies. If the verification service is unreachable, the App falls back to an on-device check and the photo never leaves your phone.

6. Product Analytics

Rewired uses PostHog to understand onboarding performance and basic App usage. PostHog receives a randomly generated installation identifier, app and device metadata, lifecycle events, screen views, and onboarding events.

Onboarding event properties may include your selected goals and pain points, the type of solution you tried before, your estimated daily screen time, age-bracket midpoint, projected screen-time years, selected challenge styles, the number of apps or categories selected, and demo minutes earned. Rewired sends only whether a name was provided to PostHog—not the name itself.

Rewired does not enable PostHog session replay, interaction recording, screenshots, camera capture, or automatic crash capture. Analytics does not include the identities of apps you selected with Screen Time.

7. Install Attribution

Rewired uses Appstack to measure which marketing led to App installs and subscriptions, using Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork framework and randomly generated identifiers. Appstack may process app and device metadata, install information, and subscription events (such as a trial or subscription starting). This measurement does not use the IDFA and does not identify you personally.

8. Paywalls and Purchases

Rewired uses Superwall to present and measure subscription paywalls. Superwall may process a generated device identifier, app and device information, paywall views and interactions, subscription or purchase status, and the first name you enter during onboarding. The first name is stored as a Superwall user attribute so paywalls can personalize their message and so Rewired can target and measure paywall experiences.

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Rewired and Superwall do not receive your full payment-card details. Apple's privacy practices govern App Store billing and subscription management.

9. Notifications

With your permission, Rewired schedules local notifications on your device, such as reminders to finish onboarding and alerts that a challenge is ready. Rewired does not operate a remote push-notification server for these reminders. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.

10. Feedback and Support Forms

Rewired opens optional Google Forms for feedback, feature requests, and deletion feedback in an in-app browser. Google receives the information you voluntarily submit and may receive standard browser and network information. Google's own privacy policy applies to those forms.

11. Website Data

The Website is hosted through Vercel and uses Vercel Analytics. Vercel may process standard network, browser, device, and page-usage information to deliver, secure, and measure the Website. The Website does not provide access to your in-app Screen Time selections or locally stored Rewired data.

12. Service Providers

13. Tracking and Advertising

Rewired does not display third-party advertising, use the IDFA, track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, or sell your personal information. The current App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.

14. Retention and Deletion

  • Local App data remains on your device until it is cleared by the App or you delete Rewired from all devices sharing that local container.
  • The small onboarding-resume snapshot is deleted after onboarding is completed or reset.
  • Cloud backups (Section 3) are retained so a reinstall can restore your progress, and are deleted on request.
  • Habit photos are not retained by Rewired after verification; OpenAI handles submitted images under its API data policies.
  • PostHog, Superwall, and Appstack retain off-device analytics, purchase, and attribution data according to their retention settings and policies.
  • Information submitted through a feedback form is retained according to the form configuration and Google's policies.

To request access to or deletion of off-device information associated with you — including your cloud backup — contact info@therewired.app. Because Rewired has no named user accounts, we may need information from you to locate an anonymous backup, analytics, or purchase record.

15. Security

Rewired uses Apple platform protections, private app containers, App Group entitlements, the device Keychain for backup credentials, encrypted network connections, per-user access rules on cloud backups, and limited-access service providers. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to limit collection and protect the information we handle.

16. Your Choices and Rights

  • You can deny or revoke Camera, Notifications, and Screen Time permissions in iOS Settings.
  • You can complete photo-verified habits or skip them — a photo is only sent when you choose to submit one.
  • You can choose not to submit feedback forms or purchase a subscription.
  • You can remove locally stored data by deleting the App, and request deletion of your cloud backup by email.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information.

Send privacy requests to info@therewired.app.

17. Children

Rewired is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, Website, or applicable requirements change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when appropriate.
